According to her
foster Mom, Raven loves to give hugs; she’ll do it on her own or upon
request, because she’s just so happy to see her special person come
home from work. She wants very much to please, but she sometimes gets
distracted and doesn’t follow through with a command; she needs gentle
reminders and encouragement.
Raven has started
to blossom during her time in foster care with GSRNE. In her previous
life, she was used for breeding and didn’t have much of a social
life outside of mothering her puppies. When she was 5 years old, her
breeder wanted her to have a home of her own; and we had just the
right foster home waiting to welcome her.
At first, Raven
didn’t seem to know how to play with toys; she was under weight and
had some separation anxiety, especially if left in the car for a few
minutes alone. She lived with 12 other GSDs,
so was used to being around other dogs, but she was submissive and
unsure of herself at first.
Shortly after
meeting Shiloh, the confident male GSD in her foster home, Raven
began to relax and investigate the rooms in her new domain. When she
eventually lay down, the resident cats in the family began to check
her out; and we could see that Raven would gladly make friends with
them.
As the weeks went
by, Raven and Shiloh enjoyed spending time together; Raven follows him
around and will even tip-toe into his crate when he’s snoozing and
give him kisses to wake him up. Shiloh is very good-natured about all
the attention and runs out into the fenced yard with her every morning
to greet the new day.
Raven has learned
how to play with a ball and gets very excited, running and playing;
she loves to go for walks and is very good on a leash. When you’re
ready to sit down and relax, Raven will curl up next to you and bask
in your company. She’s now ready to move on to her permanent home, so
please let us know if you would like to meet this sweet girl.
