His Buddy says,

Xago really loves people, and he takes great pleasure in making new friends; his eyes light up, and his tail wags so much that his entire body shakes with joy.  He also adores every dog he comes across; however, his enthusiasm can be a bit overwhelming for some.  These traits, along with his energy level, will require his forever home to have plenty of time to help him work on proper manners and give him the exercise he needs.

Xago came to GSRNE after being given up to a shelter because his owners were going through a divorce and didn’t have time for him anymore.  The shelter did not want to put him up for adoption as he had some issues that they felt meant he needed to go to someone GSD savvy that could work with him. He’s a beautiful black/red, 3-year-old longcoat male German Shepherd who just radiates happiness.

His foster home feels he is quite charismatic and continually doing things that make you laugh.  For instance, trying to anticipate what you are going to do next and then acting like it was HIS idea to, perhaps, grab the toy.  Xago responds to treats and affection and loves learning new jobs.  His foster family is teaching him to go get a toy before greeting a visitor, and this is helping him to be more calm during introductions.  They report that he is content to just be near them; and he is crate-trained, having no trouble enjoying some down time in his crate.

Xago will do best in a home where he is the center of attention; but once he has had time to bond with his new family, he might do well sharing the spotlight with another canine friend.  In his foster home, he does live with a female GSD; but he can become overly excited when he has to share the limelight and is not the center of attention.  He does have a sensitive stomach, so his new family will have to be consistent with his diet, despite his eagerness to consume any and all things available.

If you have the time, energy and ability to handle this lovable “Manny Ramirez” character, this could be the boy for you.
